Cyclones Women’s Over 40s Make Historic Debut 🎉

On Sunday 28th September 2025, the Central Coast Cyclones proudly launched their inaugural Women’s Over 40s cricket team — a landmark moment for senior women’s sport in the region. 😊

Over 20 players took part in two T20 matches against experienced NSW Masters and a combined Newcastle side, held across Morry Breen and Darren Kennedy ovals. The day was filled with standout performances, team spirit, and a shared passion for the game.

Player Highlights:

  • Bowling: Jody Monin, Vanessa Bird, Natalie Larusso, and Kelly Dearing delivered tight spells.

  • Batting: Eight players retired not out, including Sharon Crosdale, Carly Kidd, Narissa Dobell, Natasha Stead, and Kelly Dearing.

  • Fielding: Kerry Seymour, Sharnie Kent, Narissa Dobell, and Carly Kidd impressed with sharp fielding.

  • Players of the Match: Carly Kidd and Natasha Stead.

This launch marks more than just a game — it’s the beginning of a pathway for women over 40 to play competitive cricket, with strong support from CCCA and a vision to inspire other regions to follow suit.

Cyclones Represent at Inaugural 60s Greater Illawarra Mini Carnival 🏏

The Central Coast Cyclones had a fantastic weekend at the inaugural Veterans Cricket 60s Greater Illawarra Mini Carnival, showcasing grit, camaraderie, and classic Cyclones spirit.

Saturday saw the debut of Dave Glasson in Cyclones colours, while Tony Pickup amazed with his commitment, playing after a 30-hour flight from Spain. Jim Peachman joined the squad on Sunday, rounding out a great team effort.

In our first match, Cyclones held Greater Illawarra to 6-155 with standout bowling from Anthony Everson (2-24), Tony Pickup (2-27), and Tony Wilson (1-6). A strong batting start — 1-100 after 20 overs — featured solid contributions from Tony Wilson, Gary O’Sullivan, Dave Glasson, and John Toohey, before finishing on 9-139.

The weekend was capped off with a memorable dinner at Mick Cronin’s Hotel. A top bunch of blokes — a delight to play alongside!

Our over 60s are gearing up to prepare for their first round of the Sydney Masters Vintage Competition. Round 1 will be played @ Kanwal Oval on Sunday 28th September.

OVER 60’s SUNSHINE COAST CARNIVAL 🙌🏏

The Over 60s Cyclones proudly took part in the Sunshine Coast Carnival, playing four spirited matches across the tournament. True to the Cyclones legacy, the team displayed unwavering passion, camaraderie, and sportsmanship in every game. Their performance was a testament to the values of veteran’s cricket: connection, resilience, and joy through competition.

Cyclones wrapped up their Sunshine Coast campaign with a resounding win over the QLD Wombats, posting an impressive 8/229. It was a fitting finale that showcased the team's determination and skill, built on a foundation of teamwork and grit. Every game brought out the Cyclones' signature spirit, but this final performance truly captured their strength and sportsmanship. 🎉🙌🏏

Over 40s State Titles Tamworth

The Central Coast Cyclones Over 40’s recently participated in the inaugural NSW State Over 40’s T20 Tournament in Tamworth, fielding four teams: Green, Gold, Red, and Blue. It was a fantastic event, with outstanding performances and camaraderie across the board.

The Green Team placed 2nd, winning four of five matches, while the Gold Team secured 7th place with two wins. Despite not recording wins, the Red and Blue Teams enjoyed the tournament with plenty of laughter and great sportsmanship.

Individual standouts included Stuart Lockyer’s remarkable batting average of 95, Chris Becker’s impressive debut with 102 runs, and Jason Blackwood’s 7 wickets, ranking second-highest overall in the carnival.

A heartfelt thanks to team captains Jason Blackwood, Huw Griffiths, Ray Hill, and Mark Chapman for their leadership on and off the field.

Game 2 - Western Wildfires 3 for 67. Bob Jarvis 1-7, Roy Brown 1-7 and Ken Campbell 1-8. Cyclones 3 for 68. Ken Campbell 16 ret, Garrie Sinclair 16 ret and Mal Emerson12 ret.

Average age for the team was 75.3 years

Black armbands were worn to show respect to Bob Tranter a 75 who passed away recently.
